Is this the beginning of a new horrific era of battle? (07-

The deadly onslaught of terrorists that has become almost a daily affair in Afghanistan made its appearance again when a powerful bomb exploded in one of the busiest parts of Kabul. To the version of the officials it was a new form of suicide car bomb that was blown up near the Indian embassy in central Kabul claiming the death of seven people. The occurrence of the incident when the situation is much normal than ever before and also near the Indian embassy has given rise to deep tensions. Besides to the assertion of the spokesman for the defence ministry Gen. Mohammad Zahir Azimi that there was an instant death of five people at the site of explosion expresses the intensity of the strike.

To the confirmation of the doctors at the Kabul hospital even after sincerest efforts the numbers of dead were certainly high.

However, what is more striking is the resurgence of terrorism in Kabul, which remained peaceful in the recent days though the rest of Afghanistan was burning. For days the city was devoid of the experience of witnessing any horrific scrap like that of between Taliban militants and their adversaries like the Afghan and international troops.

This makes one ponder over the coming days, whether there will be new day of pestilent conflicts that raise its intensity with each passing week. The episode has a resemblance with the September 2006 incident when for a suicide bomber 12 people were wiped out and 42 others were injured. That incident was instrumental to trigger off a fresh series of violence. The same age-old story may be repeated this time also, which will confidently push back the prospects of this belligerent country into oblivion.
